Tomorrow I will be going with my company on our annual boat outing.
My boss has, in the spirit of Chinese New Year holidays, decided to rent a boat and take us all out for the day.
I’m not too sure exactly where we’ll be sailing to (prob nowhere and just round and round) but it’s exciting all the same.
What is it that you value most about a job?
The prestige of working for a big brand/MNC? The money? The perks? The people? Or the satisfaction?
Recently, a friend of mine got a pay increment…and on all counts, I’m really happy for her. But yet, I couldn’t help but wish that I too had a raise. Which of course, I am not entitled to, since I just got confirmed this month.
It was a comment that she made that cast a doubt on my relative contentment with my current job. In response to my well-wishes and partially (i believe) to downplay the whole raise-thing, she remarked “well, at least now I am market rate.” Which in turn made me wonder if I was being paid below market rate since we earned the same before her raise!
After thinking about it and feeling somewhat green for a while, I told myself that i wouldn’t want to trade places with her for the world. I’m happy with how much I earn and think it’s a fair amount for what I contribute. I love my colleagues and my company culture and going to work is not a chore.
Oh well, I guess I just need to keep telling myself now. ;p

Have you ever (though I am sure the answer should be a resounding YES) met someone you just didn’t like?
Someone that you tried to like and should keep trying to like because enimity will make life very very difficult in future? But yet no matter how hard you try, everything about this person just seems wrong.
Like you can’t help but look at the person and think “Oh, what horrid hair!” or “Grossly incompetent!” or “Urgh! Go away!”. Even little idiosyncracies (i.e. sticking out the tongue when something when wrong or crinkling of the nose to indicate distaste) annoys you like crazy and all you can think of is how stupid they look?
No?
I guess it must just be me then.

Oops. Looks like 2007 just passed me by…though I must say, 07 has been 1 eventful year. What with the traveling, the change of jobs, Zsa Zsa’s successful operation, getting out of the salsa rut, I daresay 2007 gave me a new perspective of life.
Hmm, I wonder what 2008 will bring? But first, some rather overdue resolutions:
1. I will aim for quality and not quantity. That said, cheap shoes, Internet shopping and stylo-milo-wear-once-and-can-throw-away type of clothes are off my list.
2. I will continue with salsa and start my On2 lessons.
3. I will have a cash investment this year.
4. I will take up tennis lessons.
5. I will eat less junk food, imbibe in less alcohol and led a healthier lifestyle.
6. I will be nicer to my siblings and a more filial daughter/grand-daughter.
7. I will try to cultivate humility and patience.
Okie, that’s it..Better not make too long a list in case I can’t fulfil them.
